Unidentified couple - photo with children taken in November 1927 at Tasma Studios 176 King Street, Newtown
Sometimes in life it can be a million to one shot, sometimes a small world. In my deceased Grandmothers ( who originated from The City of Gloucester England) case, were these two photos. One of a just married couple stating Married August 23rd 1919, it was taken at H.E.Jones, photographer, 73&75
North Gate Street Gloucester England. As you can see the groom is in Australian WW1 uniform. The next photo sent to my Grandmother states Alan 7, Maisie 3& a half. As can be seen the same couple now have children. The photo is dated November 1927 it was taken at Tasma Studios 176 King Street, Newtown , New South Wales. I have no name of the couple, if the lady was related to my Grandmother, her maiden name would most likely to have been Probyn, but that could be a red herring. Can anyone identify the couple? Their family may well be living in Sydney or Newtown
Dunn Family History
I am seeking information on the Dunn family who lived in the Newtown area from mid 1940s to at least 1971. Joseph Patrick Dunn was a council ganger and was married to Daphne Dunn who worked as a cleaner at RPA. They had 2 daughters and 3 sons. One of their daughters was Colleen Anne Dunn born on 31 December 1952. Colleen lived in Alice Street in 1969/1970 and worked in a match factory in 1971. Please contact me if you can help with information about any of the Dunn family.
Butt Family of Newtown
Two of his crewmates were Australians from New South Wales, one being Warren Henry Butt RAAF of Newtown & Earlwood, and I am trying to find out more about him. Sadly, all of the crew including Warren were killed in January 1945. The information I have about him is:· Eliza Howell and the Newtown Citadel

My great grandmother, Amy Smith, lived at 8 Mary St Newtown from the 1930s to the late 1970s. The house was torn down in the 1980s and a car park now occupies the site. She died in the late 1980s. For a time her mother, Eliza Howell, also lived in Mary St. She died in 1942 but a death certificate was not issued for some reason. Eliza was a 20 year plus Salvation Army Member attached to the Newtown Citadel in Brown St, now the Library. Probably a long shot, but if anyone has any information on Eliza or possibly her death, and the Newtown Citadel, and would like to pass on info, please let me know.

I am interested in finding any information relating to the Vass family who had a bakery in Newtown on Missenden Rd.
My Great Grandfather was Charles Vass. I think they may have had premises at various locations in Newtown, one I believe may have been No 14 as there is a mention of them in a newspaper dated 1951.
